Here's one I've really wanted to finish editing for a while, the 9.16.2000 from the Nothingface-Mudvayne mini tour.
This is the best footage circulating of the violence years. (And if you ask me, hands down the best recording of "One Thing" I have heard)
So here's how it went: I had this audience filmed (trader) copy of this show around 2002. I always thought it was filmed well and looked nice. About 5 years later I saw a copy for sale on ebay and felt compelled to buy it. It was a much lower GEN1 copy of the tape.
I had been in touch with another fan Anne I met during the 99 Commercial Street show, and she mentioned fiming this 2000 show as well. I immediately thought it was the bootleg I owned, turns out...it was another angle entirely with the last 3 songs filmed on the stage.
The 3rd angle:
I spent some time over the years emailing around looking for the camera footage you see down front during the show. Someone is holding a DV cam filming the band most of the set. That would be fucking awesome to find, and edit together with this footage. It eventually turned up being used on the "3 violence promos" video.
( downloaded from the old TVT website) I can tell you with absolute certainty; this is the footage from the 9.16.2000 show. The balconies are correct for the palladium downstairs @ EM Lowes. (the Worcester palladium)
-I asked Bill Gaal who has the tour footage from Violence (TVT gave the band cameras to film) if he had a copy of it, but no luck.....
-I asked Josh @ JMS Digital about it. (the guy who made the "3 violence promos" ) He told me there wasn't very much footage originally to work with for that project, but he definitely didn't have any. I found this comment odd because I believe someone was filming down front for the entire 40 minute show. I was never able to ascertain how he was given the footage, & who he got it from. (???)
-I had a phone conversation with "he who cannot be named" a top TVT guy who worked directly with the band. He explained in great detail having no recollection of ever ordering or supplying the footage recorded in Worcester. It would have come across his desk had TVT wanted it so, but he never saw it.
Hopefully one day it surfaces......until then we'll call it lost forever.
The audio is off the bootleg tape. It originally sounded like a 1920's phonograph and took 2 years off and on to straighten out. It's still far from perfect (gainy) but sounds far better and balanced than before. There is some overloading on the cameras mic during times especially like the kick drums on Piss and Vinegar. (this was a very loud show) I must have fucked with everything for close to 100 hours audio and video to transfer and process it all. Nice to see it finally come together, like a dream come true.
Thanks to Anne in Maine for the 2nd camera angle, and Howard for the fucking awesome lighting this night!!!
